Spotify faces numerous competitors in the music streaming industry. All of which offering similar services, with some of them offering additional features. Despite the competition, Spotify has remained one of the leading services alongside Apple Music and Amazon Music. These three have been locked in a tight battle to be best. On paper, these three platforms aren’t too different.

One of the most significant advantages of going this route is that Apple Music automatically merges your streaming content with what you've purchased from iTunes. This feature is a big deal if you're looking to expand your current library across multiple devices.
Amazon Music Unlimited is an excellent choice for Amazon Prime subscribers because of the extra discount it provides. Hardcore Amazon Alexa users can also benefit from selecting this service.

Based on user feedback, we were able to identify that they would like a quicker and more convenient method to identifying a song they hear. As an app that has an extensive library of songs, a user would have a difficult time trying to find a song if they do not know the song title or artist name.

My user research commenced with an in-depth analysis of Spotify's community forum page, where I delved into the insights provided by current users. This platform facilitates transparent and direct communication between the development team and the user community. It empowers users to contribute to feature prioritization through voting for the functionalities they deem most crucial. Among the top-rated comments, one particular suggestion has garnered substantial support and upvotes.

During this assessment, I observed the presence of an icon for the current camera scan function and identified ample space for the addition of another icon. This deliberate placement allows for seamless integration without causing disruption to the overall layout.

When the user taps on icon the for the first time, they will be asked to allow Spotify access to the microphone and afterwards it will immediately start listening for a song.

Instead, it would be more beneficial to have all the identified songs be displayed within the list of recent searches when the user taps on the search bar. Since the app already displays this information for songs found through direct search, it would be logical to include the songs found through the radar.

Based on the feedback, I decided to remove the “Search History” icon because it was unnecessary. Since all the songs that are identified will be automatically added to a playlist, it would be easier for the user to go there.
